Dr. Edward Chow 简介
Dr. Chow has been a toxicologist for 30 years and is currently Scientific Director (Research Investigator) at Allergan, the tenth largest pharmaceutical company in the world.
Dr. Chow received his bachelor degree in biochemistry from the University of California in Berkeley, and his doctoral degree in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of California in Davis.
After post-doctoral work at the University of California in Riverside, he became a study director at Ciba-Geigy (later became Novartis) and directed general toxicology, neurotoxicology, and carcinogenicity studies on pesticides and animal health products. A few years later, Dr. Chow moved on to a program management role and oversaw the generation of toxicology data to support development of novel fungicidal molecules, some of them had become blockbusters, and chaired a regulatory and legal team that successfully defended products from being listed as teratogens or carcinogens in California (under a law called “Proposition 65”).
After joining Allergan in 2000, he has written and supervised numerous IND's on systemic, dermal, and ophthalmic drug candidates, and has served as a subject matter expert on due diligence teams with in-licensing opportunities. He has direct experience on both small and large molecule drug candidates to treat stomach ulcer, nocturia, urinary bladder pain, neuropathic pain, rosacea, glaucoma, or age-related macular degeneration. He has served as the President of the “American Association of Chinese in Toxicology”, a 250-member “Special Interest Group” within the Society of Toxicology, and as the President of the “Ocular Toxicology Special Section”, a 100-member “Specialty Section” within the Society of Toxicology. Dr. Chow is a reviewer for the journal “Cutaneous and Ocular Toxicology” and has made presentations at the conferences of the Society of Toxicology as well as the Chinese Society of Toxicology.
